Hello all .I've was diagnosed with small breast cancer in july 2021.after 2 lumpectomy surgeries still showed no clear margins but another cancer ,so just had a mastectomy and reconstruction on December 13th to which they found a another dcis.but now I've been giving anastrozole to take but not yet taken any due to all the side effects it has .I cant see how you can live a life on these hormone therapies. I would certainly like to hear how other ladies are coping with this drug.regards stella.
I have been talking anastrozole since the end of June without any side effects. I'm not sure if what I am feeling now after radiotherapy is due to the hormone or down to feeling very very tired.
I also take Adcal with vitamin D.
Please talk to your consultant and see if there is another one you can take.
Hi
It's really bothers me with side effects, I'm not feeling great at min as it is .so dont want to add more problems at this time.was nausea there all the time could you eat
Hi yes, in fact that made it better if I ate. To be fair I was very fatigued at the time i started as I had a bit of a physical and emotional crash for a few days so can't say for definite that it was the anastrazole. My sleep was awful and getting a couple of good nights in really helped
So far I've been ok on it and I was expecting to feel worse. My energy levels are coming back and I'm eating better. Whether it is early days time will tell but I had 6 years post menopause prior to having HRT for 4 years so was used to menopause symptoms and was going to stop the hrt as felt it was no longer suiting me before the BC diagnosis
I was also prescribed Adcal with vitamin D by my consultant at the same time. Speak to your consultant or breast care nurse and see if they will get your GP to prescribe them for you.
Hi, I've been taking Anastrozole for 6 weeks. I am post-menopausal. I can't honestly say I've noticed any side effects so far. I got so anxious about side effects before I started them so I know where you're coming from. I decided to try them first and then reconsider after 3 months - as others have said there are other options if you don't get on with one type or brand. Good luck.
