Hello. This is my first post. I was diagnosed in May 2021 and had two surgeries in June followed by radiotherapy in mid August. I thought I had sailed through the whole thing but in the past month/six weeks Ive had pain or discomfort around my armpit socket. , My arm tingles and it feels like muscle fatigue. Doing any household-y stuff like ironing, hanging up washing is a real effort. I have shooting pains through my breast. It is becoming increasingly more uncomfortable to lie or lean on that side. Is this normal?
Hello. I’m not a doctor so of course you need to speak to your breast care team. But I’m suffering from ‘cording’ post mastectomy. That’s causing all sorts of strange pains in armpit abs down inside of elbow to heel of hand. Got patio coming up to worn on it.
I think it only happens when you have lymph nodes removed like I did - might be worth looking into. There are some useful posts on here and I know it sometimes comes on lots of months after the ops.
good luck.

Hi, I had surgery 2 weeks ago and they also did a biopsy of my lymph nodes. I am suffering exactly what you are explaining. My McMillan nurse said this was normal and the excerises I have been given should prevent any cording. She also said it could take a couple of years before I get full feeling back in my armpit and arm.
I hope you have been given the same excerises to do but I would recommend you give your McMillan nurse a call just in case.
You'll get there honey. Take care x
thank you for replying - I did have lymph nodes removed - i will contact the breast care team
thank you for replying. I will contact the breast care team but it is reassuring to hear that it's not unusual (to quote Tom Jones )
Yes good luck! Sorry for my typos!! That isn’t he cording that’s multitasking. Just to clarify I don’t have a patio coming up!! I have physio !!!
all the best.
Hi I'm having lymph nodes removed, as well as masectomy. really nervous as I already have lymphodema in that arm. No one can advise what is going to happen with my arm. Surgery has not been done on some one with lymphodema, so don't know what is going to happen. They know something is wrong under my arm but scared as to what the outcome will be post op and when results come in. X
This made me laugh. Needed it. I was excited for u for a new patio lol
Anyway my two cents worth. Yup lymph nodes removal causes uncomfy armpits and cording. It does go away with movement and exercise. Keep at it religiously. I also got my partner to massage underrm and pull back my hand as far as it can go, past my ears. That seem to help ease things. And stretch your arms first thing in the morning I found useful too. Not a doctor or physio of course but every little movement helps, esp stretching exercises. It goes away although very slowly.
