Diagnosed in December was June to have chemo last week but had covid in the house. Can you feel the chemo running through you.
Hi Willowtree, I’ve had my first chemo (EC) and have my second today. No, you can’t feel the chemo running through at all (well I couldn’t). Side effects, for me, weren’t too bad, sickness the following day and generally delicate stomach and a low level headache and tiredness. I was expecting it to be worse.
If you’re having EC like me, I was advised to suck on crushed ice (which I took in a flask) whilst the pink liquid was being given as it helps to prevent a sore mouth.
Im sure you will be well looked after and feel safe.
If you have any other queries you’ll get lots of help and advice here x
You can't feel it running through you, but it is refrigerated so can feel a bit cold at the cannula site. I just took a big light scarf and was able to put it over my arm if it got a bit cold.
Good luck with your chemo. I had EC-T and found EC pretty OK but docetaxel wiped me out. Take all the anti-sickness meds and anything else exactly as prescribed. They have worked out what works for most people to keep them from feeling too sick.
I found my oncology department absolutely fantastic. They really look after you and make you feel safe.
I felt a little bit woozy after EC, so hopefully you can have someone pick you up. I wouldn't have been able to drive.
Everyone reacts differently to chemo, but people on here are very supportive if you need it and can share experiences.
I hope you avoid covid!
I’m having FEC-T, thank you for information.
I’m having FEC-T thank you for the info.
Thank you so much for the info, good luck with your treatment.
Mel28 I pressed something on my phone by accident, I’m real sorry but I think it was a report. Thank you for the reply. Had my bloods done and start chemo on Friday. I’m having FEC-T . Xx
Easily done Willow. We can help each other through the good and bad days...I am relieved there are others who are able to understand what we will go through. It makes the load lighter for sure.
Good luck to you thus Friday. Looks like your a wee bit ahead of me.
