I just started on EC treatment on the 23rd of December, at the moment feeling nauseous and tired, was wondering when you could expect hair to start shedding and how was it for you..Did it gradually get thinner or come away in lumps. Just curious thanks
Hi, I am currently going through EC - I've had 3 sessions so far! My 'hair' experience maybe slightly different as I've been using the Cold Cap!
I found very little hair loss until Day 19, and then it started coming out in handfuls. The hair loss was quite extreme for about a week, and since then has been a gradual daily loss.
It's hard to say how much I have lost so far (I had very thick hair to start), but I would guess at least 50%. My hair has thinned pretty evenly all over, apart from bald patches at the front by my ears.
Hope this helps x x
Hi Deeds Click on my profile if you want to read my story .
I started EC x 6 ( normal regime 3then change ) in August 2019 i was warned hair loss was a given and usually within couple of days . My decision was not to bother with cold cap .
everyone is different but hair story goes as follows
My hair proved to be stubborn ! Initially I had a short Pixie cut so I wouldn’t feel too bad when it went . On advice from hairdresser I then only shampooed when needed and finger dried .
I used bamboo beanie hats for day and sleep cap
Hair stayed for approx 8 weeks before starting to slowly shed . I found as a lot of people do that scalp pain preceded a shedding . Hairdresser kept hair short then after no 4 EC shedding speeded up so had no 1 shave around no 5 .
Went into lockdown shielding end Feb 2020 with a fuzz growth came out in July desperate for hairdresser to thin out my chemo curls . Since then I’ve decided I like pixie look but I need it trimmed every 4weeks cos it grows so fast and thick

I had my first combination chemo 10th December . I’m shedding everywhere now , my once very thick hair is thin
next chemo is due 31st.
a friend of mine told me she lost almost all hers after 2nd chemo/ herceptin combo , then opted to shave
Mine is coming away like when you brush it, and it’s in your hair brush . It’s like pet hairs everywhere . I feel like it’s a gradual adjustment for me ,
my friend in Ireland who had a blood cancer couldn’t wear a cold cap ( different cancer?) she never wore her real hair wig ! ( well maybe once)
as it’s grown back very thick and quickly . It came back dark brown too , no grey!! At 59!
