Hello.
My niece has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She also has breast cysts, over 30 in one breast and 40 in the other. Her medication is making her ill. vomiting all the time. She has also lost over 2 stone in weight. We lost her mother (my sister) to cancer 15 years ago and our father 16 years ago.
My main worry is she has been told it could be a 31 to 38 week wait for treatment. I find this astonishing surely this can't be right. Is there anything anyone could suggest we do. She could be dead in this timeframe. She is in her early 40s with 4 children. Any suggestion would be greatly recieved. Thank you.
Hi Cafelady
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that your niece has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Does she know what type of breast cancer she has? The 31 to 38 week waiting period for treatment doesn’t sound right. Does she have a breast care nurse? If she has she should ring them and get them to clarify how long she has to wait for treatment. If not she should ring the breast clinic and get them to clarify how long she has to wait for treatment to start.
Hope this helps and I wish you and your niece the very best of luck.
