Hello everyone not sure where to start so i will give you a little background about myself.

December 2016 found lump in right breast biopsies done and boom Jan 2nd 2017 Stage 3 HER2 breast cancer. Full treatment, chemo, lumpectomy and 12 cancerous lymph node removal followed by radiotherapy. 2nd June 2018 benign tumour removed from spine via left hip and thankfully no other treatment.

Fast forward to this year reoccurring UTI's anyways following examination locum female doctor found lymph nodes were swollen in groin so then checked my armpits and yes they were raised which i couldnt understand as had had them removed. She asked if I had any other symptoms which I replied "well oddly enough few some weeks had been suffering with itchy armpits". She then asked if i was still under the Breast Clinic which i am and told me to make urgent appointment as she told me can get cancer in the lymph nodes. So can imagine my anxiety has now gone through the roof as coming up to my 5 year anniversary.

Since the examination i've now looked at the scar tissue and noticed rather than it being hard which is normal, its now hollow and fit finger tip in and the same breast looks different and dimpled again, so now im fearing the worse again.

I was advised will possibly do biopsies of lymph nodes on 13th December and again will be the agonising 2 week wait for the results over Christmas period again.

I am curious if anyone else has had cancer of the lymph nodes and where do i go from here.

Thank you for reading, just needed somewhere to rant rather than burden my younger sisters with my worries and fears.

  • Waiting really is the worst. You are in the right place here; all of us know what it feels like to be waiting first for the investigations and then for the results.

About the lymph nodes -- the recurring UTIs could easily make the groin lymph nodes reactive in response to the UTIs, but I am a little confused about the armpits because it sounds as if you have had those cleared, or did you mean they are going to biopsy the groin lymph nodes? This could be completely unrelated to breast cancer or any other cancer, but it seems the locum is not taking any chances and wants investigations done as fast as possible to establish the facts.

    Hello thank you for reply.

I've been asking for months to be referred to the Urologist but GP does not think its necessary but i disagree this will the 6th UTI i've had this year and doesn't help im diabetic t2 however since i've been on insulin past few months my sugar levels are now under control. Plus the locum want me to have 3 months antibiotics so have to wait till Friday when hopefully my urine culture comes back only if My GP agrees.

Sorry for going off track as this isnt related to Breast forum.

I am having biopsies done in the armpit and possible other test while i am there. My breast is sore, nagging dull ache underneath and around my back bra line so i cant sleep on that side at the moment. I had CT scan recently on chest, abdomen and pelvis thankfully came back clear.

So just have to wait and see not long to wait now.

  • Hello again Karen. You are not off track; everything is relevant. Have you considered changing GPs? The one you are with now does not sound helpful at all.

Excellent on the clear results from the scans!

Do you know something ive been considering moving doctors now for some time been with the surgery over 35 years, and only found out in the summer Mine had retired and didnt even get a letter fro NHS to let us know. So now we have one doctor running 2 surgeries and only way i been seen over the past 12 months is to voice my health concerns to Practice manager. Im even considering putting complaint in for negligence as i gave my urine test in last Monday, and was told this week wont get the urine culture back until probably next week as the GP is on annual leave till then.

  • Shaking my head here. Why can't the locum GP give you the results? Or even one of the nurses?

  • Hi Karen , I hope everything goes OK for you, yes waiting is the worst, I'd consider moving Drs too if you can, someone more sympathetic..let us know how you get on. Take care for now..x

  • There is no obligation to respond within any time frame, or at all. Some just want to vent, some don't want to respond beyond the opening post, and sometimes conversations develop that keep going.

I'd be interested to know what happens on Friday so I hope you will update here, but in any case, I hope you manage to get somewhere with that lot!
