I have ER+ cancer and have recently had a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy.  My lab results gave me an all clear in margins and lymph nodes and I am scheduled for radiotherapy and Letrozole. I am really worried about both of these things .

Ps I found the surgery and post op recovery okay

  • Hello. Great about the post op recovery and the clear lymph nodes and margins!

What is it that worries you about the radiotherapy and the Letrozole? Many here have gone, or are going, through these treatments so may be able to offer useful advice.

I am worried about the side effects of both ,particularly Tetrazole as I am supposed to take it for 10 years and the joint pain bone thinning, hair loss and fatigue desccribed plus brain fog sound awful Confused Cry

  • If it’s any consolation to you a friend of mine has recently finished 5 years on letrazole with no side effects to speak of……after chemo I will also start letrazole, I know like any medication each person can vary in how they may react to it….but everything crossed it won’t be as bad as feared Slight smile

  • Hi, I had 5 x radiotherapy in October and in my case I only experienced some tenderness to the touch. Still slightly tender now but not really too bad at all.

I am on my 4th month of Letrozole and was nervous of taking it as nasty side effects did seem to be fairly common. I must be one of the lucky ones as I don't have any side effects and hopefully you will be ok too.

    Best wishes x

Thank you that is very encouraging. I will have to be brave , knuckle down and get on with it x

  • I finished radiotherapy about 6 weeks ago. My boob is still a little swollen and a bit tender, but nothing that really bothers me and significantly better than any chemo side effects.  I've been on Letrozole for 10 weeks, a little stiff in the mornings for the first few weeks but now absolutely fine.
