Hello! I’ve just joined this forum. I found a lump in my breast at the start of October and last week I had an operation to remove my right breast! It has all happened so quickly! I’m so grateful that I got my hospital appointments so soon but I have not had time to stop and think! Maybe that’s a good thing? I’m here for support and advice and to offer support as well. Best wishes x

  • Hi Busymum123

I too had a speedy 3 weeks between initial routine screening then breast clinic assessment then consultant appointment confirming diagnosis and need for surgery (lumpectomy) It did feel surreal and now coming to the end of of a 3 week gap before my day surgery so I will then be 6 weeks from initial mammogram to op.

I'm grateful for the speed but I have found I have days where it feels a little overwhelming and it catches me unaware so I am kind to myself and take each day as it comes. You may find the same happens for you so be kind to yourself too.

    Much love x

  • I know what you mean. The speed is good (especially because the papers say that everything is delayed for covid). But then it kind of leaves you spinning afterward wondering what happened!

  • Hi in some ways you don’t get much time to dwell on things, but you don’t have time to process what’s happening either. From initial appointment to surgery I was 5 weeks. There wasn’t time to send my letter for the surgery date, I picked it up in clinic! Then a 5 week wait for the histology report.

  • Yes , agree with al of you . Diagnosed , out of the blue , on 17th August . Lumpectomy 17th September .

Now in 3rd week of RT . Feet haven’t touched the ground and not in a bloody good way !

Feel all of the above xxxx

  • Zero thinking time is good, faster the better as we all worry about the spread too. I find that my body is healing is much faster than my mental/emotionally healing, it will then have to play catch up in some respect. But take a deep breath, and know that at least the cancer is out! When will you have your results back?

  • Wow five weeks. I’ve been four weeks today and dreading tomorrow.  I had mammogram 20 aug and then biopsies weekly while they checked things out and then mastectomy on 2 Nov

I’m  kind of dreading tomorrow but I really want to know - the what it is the worst bit

  • Pathology results.  First time seeing breast nurse and consultant since op 4 weeks ago. Guessing it’ll be a check on wound and telling me what they found in boob/lymph nodes.
