I was diagnosed on the 19th with triple negative breast cancer. 22 weeks of chemotherapy to start with. Hasn't sunk in yet as havnt really had time to process, been worrying and looking after the kids needs first.

  • I'm not sure it's sunk in for me yet and I was diagnosed Aug 2020 and am through my main treatment! It takes a very long time to process, you just get on with the tests and treatment at first. And chemo! Good luck with chemo, it feels like forever, but you will soon be through t and out the other side.

Thankyou. Lots of information to process. Just need to be positive. I'm not one for chatting much so it means a lot to hear it from someone who's been through it .

  • Hi Wave, sorry that you find yourself here but you will have great support and there is always someone to helpGrinning

My cancer is a different type HER2+ but I started my chemo on the 15th July and finished on the 11th November, some difficult days but I’ve made it through and you will too. Had a left mastectomy with sentinel node clearance on Monday and now back home recovering and looking forward to a break over Christmas before starting radiotherapy.
Take each day as it comes and dont put too much pressure on yourself. You will get through this and your care team will look after you and if you need to chat the forum is always here!
The advice I got from my breast surgeon at my first appointment when being initially diagnosed was “chemo is my friend, we will look after and treat the disease and I will be fine and that my job was to take care of me” it sounds a bit cheesy but this really helped me as I trusted my oncologist, surgeon and nurses completely with allowed me to stay positive through the past 5/6 months.  Few dark days but this is to be expected as it’s such a shock, I just never imagined I would be dealing with breast cancer, but I am and I am doing fine and I hope that you will too.

Good luck with chemo, listen to your body and be kind to yourself xx
