First Post,  I'm 69 found a thickened area 5 weeks ago and had some pain., been to clinic and had mammogram,  then scan then biopsy as mammogram had found a lump under the thickened area.

Due results on Thursday but expecting the worst .

  • The waiting isn’t a nice time Calygran.  I’m sorry my only advice for now is to try and keep busy, easier said than done I know.  Hoping its good news for you but if it isn’t there are lots of people on here that can help and offer great advice x

  • Thanks McConnell  only one day nowFingers crossed

  • Sorry Moco predictive text

  • When I was waiting on my results my neighbours became my best friends. I cooked scones, buns, cakes anything to keep me distracted until result day. It was like being 16 again and waiting for cse results, not clever enough for o levels.

So my advice is keep busy and good luck.

Hi Callygran. The waiting really is the worse thing ever. Nothing will totally take your mind off it, but try and keep busy. Bake, visit friends, potter around the shops - whatever works. I went back to work 2 days after my mammogram and biopsies. Didn't mention anything to anyone, just put on a fake smile and acted like everything was normal. Then cried in the car on the way home.

I really hope that what they found is benign and nothing to worry about. However, if it isn't then you have a wealth of knowledge and support here.

  • Thanks everyone, t's good to have so many people who can understand what your going through and can give advice.

Got results and as expected its cancer. Ductal with hormone positive. Still 1 biopsy result to come in. Seeing consultant on Wednesday. I'm leaning towards asking for a full mastectomy if that would mean no further treatment required. Fingers x
