Fatigue + Pain

I am feeling very tired and have some pain in my left breast. Did anyone else out there have this prior to treatment? I am expecting pain and tiredness after my op on the 24th, but have read nothing about problems beforehand. Everything  I have read suggests that cancer only causes pain in the very latest stages or after surgery (which you would expect), but I have Stage 2 invasive lobukar cancer, 2 cm lesion, ER+, HER-.

So, is it possible, or is my brain messing with me and telling me I must feel like this because I have cancer?

Thank you folks x

Yes I felt like this prior to my lumpectomy. I put it down to not being able to sleep due to my brain not being able to shut off.

Cannot say I felt any pain until after the op.

Will be interested if anyone else felt this.

  • Hi

Sorry to hearof this issue. I think our mind plays lots of tricks on us during the whole process. It may be something to ask the BCN? I know that I have had pains before my mastectomy, and had asked the BCN, where she told me its probably the effects of biopsy done. When they give a local anaesthesia, the nerves all come back to life after its worn off. So nothing too worry about (easier said than done!) So doesn't always mean terrible things. Think positive!

  • Did you have a biopsy to diagnose the ER+? The biopsy pain lasted several weeks for me, it was worse than the initial pain after  the lumpectomy operation.

It is also possible that your brain is messing with you, you can easily imagine pain if you are fixating on the tumour. Try and imagine you have it elsewhere in your body, like you leg, and see how quickly you will be hyper-aware of your leg.
