Breast cancer

Hi sorry to hear about your BC diagnosis.  I am starting my chemo on Wednesday had 7/14 lymph nodes positive.  I am going to try the cold cap in the hope that I will keep my hair.  My oncolgist said it is 60% successful and I might only lose small patches x

Just had mastectomy +5days. Still getting used to new body. Next week check up and will know more of next steps

Like you I was also worried about hair loss. However I decided to cut this much shorter so that its less trauma chopping off long locks. Things will he different for a while, I am scared too. But remember once you start you are on the road to recovery. Your hair will grow back in future..In the meantime there are plenty to help you cover up if I wish, hats, wigs, beanie, scarf?

It will be very strange but I am not going to look at myself i guess!

Don't forget your still alive and living a life of sorts until you're well enough to enjoy it to the full.

I finish 12 weekly and three three weekly cycles of chemotherapy this week. I have kept some hair up to this point by using the cold cap. Almost all gone now but it has helped me to adjust over the weeks. I have a very realistic wig which has given me confidence and I shall wear it until my own hair is long enough to feel okay about it again. It is upsetting but maybe try the cold cap. It certainly seems to hold the loss back.

Thanks for your help I have an appointment with a wig shop on Thursday hopefully getting a wig will help me deal with it better
