Hi guys I have grade 2 breast cancer I was told it would need radiotherapy and hormone treatment after lumpectomy surgery and lymph nodes biopsy The cancer is in 2 of 4 lymph nodes removed so I now have to have chemotherapy as well I’m scared and so stressed about it all losing my long hair is going to be so hard
Hey
Just had mastectomy +5days. Still getting used to new body. Next week check up and will know more of next steps
Like you I was also worried about hair loss. However I decided to cut this much shorter so that its less trauma chopping off long locks. Things will he different for a while, I am scared too. But remember once you start you are on the road to recovery. Your hair will grow back in future..In the meantime there are plenty to help you cover up if I wish, hats, wigs, beanie, scarf?
It will be very strange but I am not going to look at myself i guess!
C x
I finish 12 weekly and three three weekly cycles of chemotherapy this week. I have kept some hair up to this point by using the cold cap. Almost all gone now but it has helped me to adjust over the weeks. I have a very realistic wig which has given me confidence and I shall wear it until my own hair is long enough to feel okay about it again. It is upsetting but maybe try the cold cap. It certainly seems to hold the loss back.
