I had a mastectomy with reconstruction 2 year ago and after 6 months I had a symetry in the other brest, due COVID the operation has been cancelled and moved several times. During all process I have managed my feelings very good but now I feel anxious and depressed. I feel abandoned because how I don’t have cancer my case is not a emergency so I have to wait and I have the impression that nobody cares about me.

I feel in the middle of anyway because I can’t move on, I feel as a bird in a cage.

  • Hi Lunamoom

Speak to your GP/Specialist Nurse/ Surgeon and explain how you feel and see if they can speed things along for you. It might also be worth phoning McMillan helpline to see if they can suggest any other ways forward for you.

    All the best

The last time I says something, someone told that this is NHS and if I want a operation quickly I must to go a private clinic and pay for that.  It’s not the way to talk a pacient.

  • Who was this who said this? I think those gate keepers are usually less sympathetic.

1)Make an appointment with your GP and speak to her in person, do not leave without a referral of sorts. Big up your situation to make it feel more urgent.

    2) Go back to the original breat clinic for your mastectomy and ask for an appointment.

I feel bad for you that you have been left in limbo, so sorry you had to struggle.

No thanks to the pandemic and everyone's overworked and fed-up. Don't take to heart what that person said and just keep at it.

Sorry if this is all the comfort I could give. Wishing you all the luck moving forward.
