Hi, I'm new here.  Had a lumpectomy last Friday and a node removal for examination at the same time.  Have felt in control up to now, but today, once the dressing came off of my node scar, it all seems real somehow.  Is this normal? Thinking

  • Hi Jayne2404

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's perfectly normal for things to seem real once you either start treatment or after seeing your scar from the operation for the first time.  Waiting on results can be tough, often the toughest thing after a cancer diagnosis.  Do you know if you are having chemo yet?

Wishing you the best of luck with your continuing treatment whatever that may be.

     Best wishes

    Hi Daisy 53

Thank you for your reply.  I get my results next Thursday.   There was talk of radiotherapy and hormone treatment in about a months time, but I assume it will depend on my results next week.  Like you say, I think the waiting is the worst park.

    Best wishes

Yes Jayne the waiting is the worst part especially in the early days .  Try not to worry we all start out like that but it gets easier. You know you are going to need some treatment so it will all be planned now ,and you on the cancer express now with the rest of us ,  it's a bit of a dark tunnel to start but the light creeps in as you go along and then the sun comes back out again . You relax get the treatment and then get back on with normal life X take care

  • Thanks for asking Rhiwbina...busy with work today and a bit of house cleaning then went out for dinner with parents in law and drop kid off for bonfire sleepover.

I am a bit worried about my cough..did a LFT and was negative huge relief. Now to isolate next three days. Do u have any remedy for dry tickly coughs. I am hoping its just bugs going around. I am annoyed both my partner and child won't wear masks in public I feel exposed. Maybe am overthiking. I really want my covid booster too!! Need to ring Gp for it!

Just taken some Manuka honey and lemon hot drink. Let's see if it works! If not going to ask hubs get Covonia from Boots.

    How are you holding up?

Honey in chamomile tea is kinder to the throat than lemon. I learnt this from a BC nurse after I had pains in my throat caused by my intubation in my operation. Get well soon!

  • Aahh bless u  I did think the lemon made it worse for me! But its a known remedy from long ago

Good idea to substitute with camomile. I will keep trying. Its when I get into bed and coz it's tickly you just cannot sleep. Sigh

    Thanks though.

    • Oh gosh Claud you have surgery soon , I don't know of any remedy's but anti-inflammatory may help  have you had your PCR test yet? PleaseSmile cat look after yourself can you isolated from your partner a bit maybe for sleeping when it's impossible to self isolate ? I suppose if you're partner does not have any symptoms then it's not something you have caught from them ?  I live with my son we are very careful and he will wear a mask he is 43 ! So we doing what we can . I'm doing ok no sickness yet I'm on day 2/3 it will be day 3 at 4pm today.  Just waiting for 4 days of fatigue to turn up. I'm ok worried about you , let me know in the morning how you doing. I'm awake again just can't sleep for long these days look after yourself x
