Hello, this is the first time I’ve posted on the site. I am so scared at the moment as I have all the symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer. I have an appointment in the breast clinic in 4 weeks time. I saw my GP on Tuesday and he gave me antibiotics and referred me to the breast clinic. Yesterday symptoms started in the other breast, even though on antibiotics ,so rang GP who told me that he’d done all he could in primary care and if things got worse to go to A&E and get intravenous antibiotics!
As pain and swelling getting worse I went to A&E, told to take evening primrose oil and make sure to get seen next week in breast clinic. Today I am worried as as GP didn’t seem to know IBC has different symptoms to other breast cancers and his referral won’t give whoever sees it the information needed for quicker appointment
I can’t believe that I’m writing this about myself on a Friday night, I am so worried as antibiotics haven’t worked and everything getting worse.
Not sure how to end this, so just hope I get some replies.
Hi there, gosh, I can understand why you are worried. Assuming you are in the UK, GP referrals for potential breast cancer are usually with 2 weeks, so it might be an idea to call your GP again tomorrow or call the breast clinic to see if you can get an earlier appointment. The waiting and the uncertainty was always the most difficult for me so I hope you get some progress on appointments and diagnosis soon. Best of luck
