Hi I have a red mark on my breast which I found Friday . I saw the doctor on Monday .She gave me a steroid cream but the look on her face told me it was more serious than I have imagined. So I asked dr Google . I am now feeling very scared and lonely
When you say a mammogram ov the 24th I presume that you mean 24th May? If you think there is an issue you should be seen in 2 weeks not 4 (covid aside). Waiting is really stressful, and when you speak to your doctor you should push it as an urgent referral rather than routine mammogram Ask if there's a breast screening centre with an earlier appointment which s/he should be able to check online.
I ended up with mastitis from a swimsuit one summer years ago (it rubbed my nipple) and went to A&E when back from holiday as I arrived back on the Friday night and wanted antibiotics. I wasnt given them but an appointment at thr Breast clinic the next week instead. I spent 5 days in agony, and had my appointment as it was starting to recover, only to be told I had mastitis! It did get the screening quickly though!
Thank you London Mumof2 yes 24th may . I phoned for that appointment because I had just turned down the three year testing so she advised me to phone and make an appointment. I am seeing her Tuesday so I presume she will make a decision as to what she thinks the spot is and refer me for testing if she thinks it suspicious
Hi Denise,
I’m no expert but was diagnosed with Inflammatory BC in February. It grows quickly so it is very unlikely that you have had it for 3 years.
I think you must have the mammogram ASAP as, regardless of the outcome, your mind is starting to race and, if you do not have cancer, a mammogram will show this and put your mind at ease.
If you do have cancer then you will be fast tracked to treatment which is what is required with Inflammatory BC.
Either way, and I do hope it’s not cancer, a mammogram is a must. The GP will give the best advice based on clinical signs but they can’t see inside you and often there is no lump with IBC.
Bluebell xx
Thank you bluebell . I am seeing the doctor Tuesday and have booked a mammogram on the 24 may . I do overthink everything . I spoke to a nurse on here yesterday and she helped calm my racing brain I hope it’s all going well for you and send you massive good wishes thank you lovely lady xx
