A close friend of mine told me today she has breast cancer and will be having a mastectomy. I was and am in shock. We both cried. But now I need to know the best way to support her. Once she’s had the mastectomy is there anything that I could get her to make her more comfortable ?
Thanks

Su

  • Hi Swanie, I would second the heart shape pillow and the chillmax cooling mat! I found that so soothing for several weeks after my Mastectomy. Sounds like she’s very lucky to have such a supportive friend. I know I couldn’t get through this without my close friends! Family are amazing but I can be much more honest with my friends about how I’m really feeling.

I would really appreciate it if you could scan the booklet for me please. I ordered a heart shaped pillow from Etsy last night but thank you so much for the kind offer to make one. xx

I'll be happy to do it this evening :)  Although it's for partners, it does give some general guidance.  I hope you find it helpful

Will you send email address to send the document to (PM)

You can download the booklet from the Breast Cancer Now web site.  Just type the title into the search bar and it comes up as a .pdf file.
