Newly diagnosed, starting chemotherapy in January

I have the option of having the cold cap, any ideas or experiences with the cold cap

Thanks

  • Hi I think I’ll be starting chemo in January as have just been told I’m HER2 positive and ER negative so instead of radiotherapy after my surgery it looks like chemo.
One of my best friends with same diagnosis as me used the cold cap and her hair thinned slightly but it really worked for her. I’m up in Scotland so hoping I might be offered cold cap too, worth a tSlight smile! Be good to buddy up as supportSlight smile

I've got the option of starting chemo 6th Jan without the cold cap or 15th jan with the cold cap, hence my dilemma.

It's just the wait that's so frustrating and feeling anxious that if I wait is the cancer going to spread

  • Hi oregano, it’s so hard when we have to make these decisions. Not sure if you’ve already posted the answers to this so apologies if you have. Have you already had surgery? Was there node involvement?  I try to focus that my surgery will have removed the imminent danger and the chemo will mop up any other cancer cells that are around as it’s a systemic treatment. If trying the cold cap to avoid hair loss is important to you then perhaps a weeks delay is worth it? There isn’t a right or wrong choice, just the one that feels tight for you. Hugs x
