Hello everyone. I have been recently diagnosed with TNBC in December. I have just turned 50 and am waiting for my treatment plan to be finalised. Any one out there of my age group undergoing treatment? Any advice on what to expect will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance and good luck to all those who are battling bravely with this unfortunate situation. My prayers are with you all.

Hello, I’m in a similar position. I’m  51 and was diagnosed with TNBC at the end of October. I’m having chemo first EC and then paclitaxel/carboplatin for 6 cycles to shrink tumour before full mastectomy. I’ve been really lucky and tolerated chemo well so far but haven’t seen any reduction in tumour yet. I think it’s going to be a long journey so just taking it one day at a time. Wishing you all the best.

Hello again. Thank you for replying. May I ask is full mastectomy a decision you have made or has it been recommended by your breast surgeon, because I have been advised wide local excision with sentinel lymph node biopsy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. I hope and pray that you recover fully and wish you all the very best.

Hello again TNBC50, initially there was some discussion about a lumpectomy but the size of my tumour 6cm means that a full mastectomy will be necessary. I must admit I’ve found it hard mentally not to have surgery right away as that would be my instinct. Treatment will be different for us all depending on our situation, but I’m lucky to have an excellent team looking after me. All the best to you too.
