hello everyone, I was diagnosed with precancerous cells and Paget’s disease of the nipple in my left breast in September. After many tests, biopsies and scans which felt like they took forever, I had my surgery on 19th November, surgeon removed a 25mm DCIS and 5mm of invasive ductal carcinoma within it - this was a shock as all tests showed precancerous cells only. I had a symmetrising reduction of my other breast at the same time which was the right choice for me. All margins were clear but then had to have SNB to check for spread. One ‘hot’ node removed on 7th December and nervously waiting results of that biopsy plus rest of pathology report relating to ER and HER2 status to determine next step in treatment. I feel I’m recovering well physically but do have up and down days emotionally as I’m (a very young minded) 64 in January and both my mum and aunt died from breast cancer around my age. My daughter is 24 and really finding it hard to cope with all the uncertainty alongside Covid. As I woke up at 6.15am I popped on herto read some posts and realised I’m not so isolated when we have to stay apart with an outlet on here
Hello and so sad to hear you’ve needed to find this group.
this is a tough time while you wait to find out what your team have in store for you. But be reassured that whatever it is, it will be tailor made for you, these days the heavy-mob of standard treatment does get modified for every case.
In the meantime, try to keep yourself busy and occupied, and try to sleep properly too (I know from experience it isn’t easy at this stage!), exercise like yoga/Pilates/walks will give you a way to get some clear-mind moments and they will actually help sleep too.
do check out the rest of the group, there are a lot of ongoing discussion threads, some rather on the long side, and not always about cancer!

Finding it hard to navigate around site to find categories as some seem to be years old, any advice? Would be great if anyone at roughly same stage on here
Wishing you all peace and calm in the storm...with a helping of laughter and joy to bring healing ️
Yes, this new arrangement of the group needs a bit of getting used to! Threads show with the original post at the top (which yes, can be years old!) but then should show the latest page underneath.
Have a look at the ‘new to site’ sub-group and I guess there will be quite a few around your stage in treatment.

Doc phoned with my results and I’m HER2+ and not oestrogen dependant so my treatment will be Chemo, Herceptin then radiotherapy over the next year.
Not what I was hoping for obviously. Oncology appointment on 6th January to discuss.
Has anyone else had this after what started as “you have precancerous cells” feels like I’ve fallen into a black hole!
Wishing you all peace and calm in the storm...with a helping of laughter and joy to bring healing ️
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
