Hi. I'm new here. I found a lump yesterday behind my nipple and my nipple has sucked in. It's also discharging. I seen my doctor and they have urgently referred me for tests. This has now got me really worried.

  • Hello , Sorry to find you here but you have come to the right place for support. Being referred for tests is the standard treatment for someone who has your symptoms. You will probably attend a clinic which has all the tests to hand  and you will probably be assessed in various ways e.g. Mammogram , ultrasound and physical examination by a specialist Doctor. They will then discuss with you any possible treatment you may need. It is good that you referred yourself straight away and you should be seen fairly soon . I know that you will be worried - we all are when we don't know what is going to happen. But take it all one step at a time and try and be kind to yourself in the meantime. Sending you big hugs xx Kwissy

Try to stay positive I know that is difficult but the fact your here talking is a start. The tests are standard and the fact you have taken prompt action is all in your favour.

Take care and keep strong x

    Ty so much x

  • Hi , Glad that your appointment has come through for Saturday. I would suggest that you take a  copy of your usual prescriptions (if any ) and a brief medical history. I also took a pen and notebook to jot down any details in and these helped afterwards when I was able to go over things with the Breast Care Nurse. I am sure the Staff in the clinic will explain everything as it happens but do ask questions if you don't understand the terminology used. Wishing you good luck for Saturday . In the meantime try not to worry (easier said than done ,I know) but it doesn't solve anything and just wears you out. Sending big virtual hugs  xx

  • Good luck for Saturday. Glad you got your first consultation through so quickly, I had to wait 6 weeks for mine!  You will probably have to wait for a couple of weeks for the results of any biopsies etc., but your consultant may say what he/she thinks at the time of the examination.  You have to remember that, even if it is not the news you want, it is very  treatable.

  • Hi , The last sentence from is the most important one to take on board at the moment - breast cancer is very treatable now. Sending more hugs xxKwissy
