Hi everyone. I had lumpectomy in April, been through six rounds of chemo, had radiotherapy. In between I ve only had telephone appointments. Now been told they re happy with everything and see you in six months. It might sound funny but I don t know what to do now. All the stress and now nothing. Feeling more anxious about it all than in the beginning,

  • Hi Allspot welcome to the forum. You have come to exactly  the right place as what you are feeling is believe it or not one that is felt by many of us. That anxiety will go but don't sit and fret about things just come in and have a chat and if you feel like speaking to someone by phone then please do call the Macmillan Line 0n 08088080000 .

Its a known situation after treatment ends and as I said to are not alone but there is a really good article which explains a bit about this next stage if you can look up Dr Peter Harvey "After the treatment finishes what next"? It is an excellent article and when I was given it to read all the pennies of realisation  started to drop as I realised in that article about what I was feeling and why.

In the breast cancer forum there is a thread called the Awake thread and is used by many of the lovely folks on here who cant sleep and are night owls and its not all about cancer but some light relief on occasion so do pop in see what you think if sleep eludes you.

Keep your chin up things will get better but cut yourself some slack you have been through the mill and you have a right to feel whatever it is you feel.

Sending some huge big hugs your way meantime.xxxx

  • Hi allspot

Well done for getting through your treatment, no small thing. Yes the time after treatment is like a blank page after all the appointments and arrangements.

time now to take extra special care of yourself. I changed my diet after diagnosis to something healthier so needed to research healthy foods which I actually like. Exercise and walking when you feel up to it but don’t overdo it and wear yourself out.

its ‘you time’now, so do the stuff you enjoy, but take things one step at a time.

    take care

Cancer may affect my body, but I won’t let it affect my spirit
