Hi all,
3 months into taking Letrozole which I'm on for 10 years after a bilateral mastectomy. Suffering with hot flushes, night sweats & painful joints. I'm accepting of the painful joints which I can manage with pain killers but the hot flushes/night sweats are another matter! Some days they're so bad I resemble a frightening red faced harridan & can't face going out as they also make me feel quite sick. I've cut out caffine & alcohol which seems to have helped slightly.
Has anyone tried Sage as I've been told this may help? I've gone on-line & there seems to be a variety of 'Menopause Suppliments' or just Sage. I'm at a loss to know which one is safe to take, whether they work or whether I should just buy Sage & if so which dose/make ?
Any advice or recommendations gratefully received.
Thank you.
I've been taking Mirtazapine which is an anti depressant but helps with night sweats. I think, along with chemo they are responsible for my weight gain but they've worked.
I know there are other anti depressants that work in the same way. I've also heard that acupuncture can help with night sweats so I'm tempted to look into that route but it's expensive unless your trust will fund it.

I'm new to this forum site. But I would like to say I've taken Sage suppliments for 10 yrs for hot flushes ( recommended by the guy in my local health food shop) and they are great. If I've forgotten them for a few days (holidays etc) I've really noticed a difference. The ones I take are Menoforce sage, one a day.
I have been taking sage supplements for 25 years because I couldn't tolerate HRT. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and put on to Letrozole, I took the bottles etc of the supplements with me to the oncologist. He looked at them in detail and said they were fine to take as none of them contained plant oestrogens. The sage supplement I take is Menoforce and I take 1 tablet once a day. It doesn't get rid of all the problems but it definitely minimises them and makes them more tolerable.
Best wishes,
Jane
I was so worried today, that maybe I'd encouraged estrogen to manifest and cause breast cancer, because of taking the safe supplimebts for so long, i was going to ask my oncologist ( who I've not met yet) the exact same question you asked. I feel much better now.
Thankyou.
