hi all
has anyone had side effects of docataxel like having.a stomach bug. I’m on day 11 and for the last 2 days since being on a drip I have had stomach cramps, nausea and anything I eat goes straight through.

Hi
Yes I had tummy cramps , sometime diarrhoea sometime constipated . But never prolonged . I would phone the helpline as you can’t allow yourself to get dehydrated.
I know you won’t want to bother them but as one adviser in the phone said to me
“ I’m working and your keeping me in a job , so never ever think if yourself as bothering us . We choose this job and we are here to help you , we want to help you “
So give them a phone .
hope everything settles soon .

Hi Ruby Rose
lovely to hear from you. I was on a drip for 4 hours on Friday. I don’t have a temp like I did but have suffered with these cramps on and off since. When I was on the fec the side effects seem to have subsided by now. This docataxel is lasting longer.
How are you anyway

Hi ,
Yes I experienced huge digestive issues as a result of Docetaxel - very sore stomach - cuddled a hot water bottle ! Not nice. I also was very much tireder than on EC . On average I slept for about 3 days on both cycles I have had - unheard of for me. Then just as I started to feel better the diarrhoea kicked in and I couldn’t stay far from a toiler so couldn’t go out.
It passes though - just being realistic to show you are not alone. Others don’t seem to suffer these symptoms which show we all react differently. On the other hand the two cycles I have had really worked. At my recent MRI I was told I had a dramatic response to the docetaxel Perjeta/herceptin which shows it works after a disappointing mid MRI. So keep going !
Hope you feel better soon.

Hi
I've just seen this thread. I have had diarrhoea every day since docetaxel on 12th .I was in hospital for 5 days with neutropenic sepsis and on IV antibiotics which so didnt help the diarrhoea . Been home 3 days and finished the oral antibiotics yesterday. Still can't eat without running to toilet 10 minutes later. No one except me seems concerned. This was my first round of chemo. Next lot due 3rd and I am seriously wondering if I can do it again
I am sure the sepsis came from having diarrhoea as chest etc all clear. Sorry to hear others are suffering this as well
Helen
So sorry you are also suffering. I am unsure what to do and how long to leave it. Don’t fancy sitting in A and e lol just been told 7 hour wait. Seem to be spending more time in hospital then home.

I have just rang emergency line and no beds in local hospital. Advised to take 2 loperamide and phone in at 8. If symptoms worsen over night it will be ambulance to another hospital. Otherwise I am to go to chemo unit tomorrow as my rash, aches, stomach cramps and diarrhoea are side effects of docataxel.
