Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

Went into York to meet friend for lunch.   Last time I went in this path was covered by the flooded river.

  • Beautiful!

  • I’ve just skimmed a couple of pages ... great pics, here and afar. It seems like everyone is busy as bees.... keeping active is good. I’m keeping on the go although I did regress a bit towards the settee at one time !,,  Missed yoga this week as I was ‘North’ but looking forward to getting back to it on Monday. I must actively remember what we do so I can practise in between sessions !!! I gave up Tai Chi as it was more the relaxation type, very very slow, and I do need something more martial arts, more active. I’m doing some walking and hoping to get stuck into gardening next week ... hope a nice warm sunny day might be on its way.

    Hugs xx

“ The only constant thing in life is change “

  • , ,Tai Chi can vary so much between styles and instructors. Slight frown

, how did you get on with the plastic surgeon? I do hope they can change your treatment so you can heal. It sounds horrible xx

I went swimming today with the webbed gloves. It is really quite hard work, but I did go faster! The sun was out and there were squirrels running about in the trees. I timed it well. Just as I  was getting out the pool filled with splashing children! Must remember to get there really early during the hols. I didn't think I would have enough energy after Tai Chi last night but was fine.

    Love to all xxxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

Hi .  Plastic surgeon next Wednesday.   Not an appointment with him but dressings nurses have timed my dressings appointment for when he does outpatients.  Then they go and get him when my wound is exposed.   I am going to try and have a list of questions and try and explain how awful this is.  It is difficult as I am half naked and he is in a rush.  But I need help.  I can't go on like this for much longer.

Family weekend ahead including my lovely 18 month old grandson.   Hoping for cuddles but he is very lively!

Swimming sounds wonderful.  Very jealous xx

  • Be thinking if you next Weds. Sounds to me as though you need a skin graft. Good luck xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Will be thinking of you next Wednesday, AnnJac, try not to let being half naked put you off the questions, he will have seen it all before, after all!
