Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Hi Amalie,

Hope you got on ok at work? And hope you’re not too exhausted by the emotional side of returning, too, emotions really can take it out of you!

    Hi Eddiboy,

Are you getting ready for that holiday, or are you away already? Hope it’s a wonderful break to build you up....

    Hi everyone,

Loved the pic of the Birmingham meet, great to see such lovely smiling faces, hope the next one is a possibility!

  • Wooooo hooooooo

We were one of the top posts last week!! Yeah party central or PICC line or Hickman

Spent a day at Maccy Towers brushing up skills, meeting new people and learning how to improve our roles and promote them.

So lots of trudging between underground stations etc etc.

All you lovely Londoners hat off ...... as an ex-city girl (Brum) I DO NOT MISS city life.

Off for a trip around Mr Profumo and Miss Markell haunts. Mmmmmmm

Hopefully pics to follow, but as the site is never too happy with large pics and seems to boot out notifications due to them, I will probably have to make them quite small. Lesson learnt at Maccy Towers yesterday.

    PS And afternoon tea because...........

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

  • Leolady thanks for starting this thread. I don't always post here but I do try to go a walk now most days. A big walk Sunday with hubby and then quick walks on my own or with children in the week. This thread really inspires me the pictures are lovely and emotionally a walk is priceless .Especially on a day I'm dwelling too much.  Xx

  • Hi all

Another sunny day - another run! A year ago I couldn't have imagined posting that! It feels good!

I could tell you a few stories about the place now known as Dartmoor  Zoo! It looms large in my childhood memories - from the days before it was, thankfully, taken over.

      - I love the ballet and swan lake is of course a favourite. I particularly like Mathew Bourne's productions - not everyone's cup of tea, I know. His all-male swan lake is breathtaking! Enjoy your date with yourself (sex and the city reference)

     - here is an alternative view of London life from my run this morning - could be a village green, almost - an antidote to tube mayhem.

    Have a good day everyone

  • A walk along the coast ... waiting for phone call after MDT
