So in  5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.
Deb09 (tagging not working on PC for some reason as normally OK) - I had the exact same with my large muscle groups - esp thighs, hips and shoulders - post docetaxel. I was knackered even peeling a potato. It is like extreme fatigue or a build up of lactic acid, as if you have run a marathon when you've only walked to the end of the street. I was like a 90 year old getting up the stairs. The good news is that mine's is totally away now. I'm 6 weeks post last chemo (4 April), although it's been away for a while and I didn't really notice when it got better due to being a bit preoccupied with my operation last week. I'd say it will get better for you in the next week or two. I didn't find painkillers made a difference. Many of my T side effects took a good 4 weeks to get better (eg blooming constantly watering eyes). Quite frustrating but you will get there.
Jacks - good news about your daughter.
Linda xx
Patience and faith
Jacks77 - Blooming brilliant news for you and your daughter what a relief! Admin need to get their act together though!
Thanks lovely for the advice, you can play mum to me anytime! I wasnt aware of the chemo making skin sensitive, i noticed the rash when i got home from a walk and was wearing a vest top, it makes sense as the rash is over just my arms and chest where my skin was exposed while walking! Its definately factor 50 for me from now on! I think if the aching muscles continue i will condact the bcn in the next few days for advice, thanks Jacks and have a celebration stress free glass of bubbly with your daughter you deserve it xx
Aspen - Thanks so much that has made me feel a lot better as i was thinking that this was here to stay or there was another underlying issue! I think i am just nieve in thinking that once chemo is finished the side effects would disappear quickly too! You have totally mirrored the side effects exactly as im going through them to the T pardon the pun!! It does feel exactly like a build up of lactic acid when you have over exerted yourself but its so frustrating that i get this just by lifting a bottle of milk out of the fridge! Ive tried painkillers and as you say they have had no effect, i think il just have to be patient and ride it out but you have put my mind at ease that im not on my own and it will subside eventually! Cheers Aspen and im glad you are feeling better now! Deb xx
Hi hun, I had the achy muscle pain after T I can honestly say it felt like ages after chemo that it got better, I can't put a time on it but I do know I was still suffering 3 weeks after, it got better little by little, I am 5 weeks after now and it's much better.
I was absolutely blown away by how much my leg and arm muscles hurt, I felt like I had run a mini marathon just walking up the stairs.
Hope it improves over the next few weeks
Leolady56 - Thankfully no dust at the hospital today!! Back again as drain leaking this time!! All sorted very easily. Love a bit of Wham but back in the day I was more of a “Durannie” lol!! No need for panama today as no sun :-( maybe tomorrow.
xXx
Deb09 - I finished chemo 4 weeks ago and still have residual achy shoulders, arms & neck from the big T. My legs improved last week and I’m pleased to report although there are still foods that taste & feel wierd in my mouth, I’m really enjoying a cup of tea again!! Keep up with the pain killers and gentle walks. If you’re worried get in touch with your team.
xXx
Evening all,
Residual remains of cold left, odd sniffles and an occasional cough, other than that feeling as normal as i can again. Think I've had enough colds in the past 4 months to do me for at least the next 2 yrs or so
Jacks, great news for your DD, must be a huge relief, and hopefully the admin errors can get sorted and proper follow up care arranged in the future for her.
Leo, the tattoos are completely underwhelming aren't they. I have natural red spots bigger than my tats, in fact the rt team kept using my natural midline one instead of my tat, thinking it was the tat.
Jammy, not too much longer to go on the chemo train.
Everyone else, i have been trying to keep up/catch up!
Sunny weather here since the bank hol weekend more or less, which means this will be it for our summer ooop north. Yes rt means no sun on treated areas, fine for me, can't say my boob areas have ever seen the sun, and my fair skin never has less than factor 30 slapped on anyway if there is any upper chest skin peeking out of tops.
As soon as i hit post i remembered what else i was going to say.........
Leo wig looks fab, not at all wiggy, you go rock about town
Too many adorable looking children from you lot too.
