Good Morning Ladies!
A question for anyone taking Letrozole. How long was it before side effects began to manifest? I've been on it for a whopping 4 days now and don't notice anything yet. I will say, that I'm on a weight loss (down 10 labs) and exercise regiment as well. Anyone care to share their stories? My thought is better to know all the potentials than to be blind sided. Mira
Hi Beachwalker,
im on Accord and have managed to stay on that brand with aches, flushes but not much worse than that.

Hi I've been on letrozol since November and my nails are really bad. I didn't have chemotherapy so cant blame that. i thought it may be due to weakness at nail bed that would now have grown to the tip as they are peeling like crazy but i guess it could be the letrozol. All I have done it but layers of varnish on to try and protect them
Hello youngatheart
Most of my nails, bar a couple, are down to nothing which makes my finger ends become sore. What nail there is, is brittle and breaks and flakes easily. I'm using a nail conditioner and a strengthener. I'm also now taking a calcium supplement.
My nails were good throughout my treatments but The L from Hell has done for them
Onwards and upwards, could be worse. I hope you're doing OK otherwise youngatheart
All the best
J
Hi Cuppatime,
I have SNS powder on my nails and it is the best they have ever been! Before I started the SNS my nails were literally crumbling away, and I assumed it was from the 6 months of chemo followed by radiotherapy - I didn’t dream it could have been the Letrozole.
Anyhow, since having SNS powder they are sooooo good that my nail technician has to file them down every time she does them, they are strong and thriving.
I would say, definitely give it a go.
Nikki
Hello nixiemoo
Thanks so much for letting me know. I think I'll definitely give it a go - anything to help the disaster that my nails are at the moment. Have watched a video on how to use it with my sister who's a nail technician so watch this space!
Have had to give up the calcium supplement as they were giving me side effects.
Many thanks, take care
J
Oh dear, I've had a phone call from Boots saying they will not be supplying Dr Reddys brand of Letrozole anymore due to high cost! I've spoken to distributer who gave me a couple of pharmacies near me, but one said no. Also the dist said they had very low stock any way!
What do I do? I tolerated this brand very well (I take it in the evening), since starting last July, except for my nails which over the last month have been reduced to virtually nothing.
I wish Boots at the Marsden had never given me this brand as I wouldn't now be so worried about finding another brand that suits me. Boots stock Accord so to make it easier and if I can't get Dr R anymore, I suppose I shall have to give it a try.
Sorry to moan, but this has really upset me, I thought I was doing well. My mum is also on them!!
Love to all
J x
I am in the same position as you. Haven’t been able to get Dr Reddy’s for 3 months. This was a blow as l had only just persuaded the doctor to specify it on my prescription. So it’s Accord for me ( although the pharmacist says they are now Actavis, what a tangled web this is!)
I have not noticed any difference in SEs so hope you and your mum don’t either.
Best wishes
Dearest and over70,
I have heard and read is that many of the ladies on here seem to tolerate the Accord brand of tablet very well, with minimal side effects compared to others.
I believe the Accord is very similar in make to the Femara brand of letrozole.
I do believe if you take additional supplements of Glucosamine & Chondroitin Complex (this is one caplet, combined) and also Vitamin D supplement, this should help.
I will add, I am not medically trained, these are my own views and opinions.
With Love, x
