Cor, flippin' heck ladies, I definitely jinxed myself with the 'no side effects' comments about my first session on Thursday!

Today, been poleaxed by the severest jaw pain and sore mouth - no ulcers, but everything that is anything other than tepid and liquid feel like sucking a million lemons - SO painful. Can't eat anything solid for fear my head might fall off when I chew!

This is what I have mainly looked like today:

Image result for cat with ice pack on chin

Ice packs on face, hot wheaty backs on my back and other joints. Can't go and lie in bed as the jaw ache gets worse when I lie down!

I'd forgotten the joys of IV chemo!!! Hurrah, only another 4 days until the next lot...

Still if it does the job, who needs to eat? I could do with losing some of the almost 4 stone I've put on since starting on the bloomin' steroids!!!

Hugs to everyone else - hope you've all had good days!

  • Hi Weeblmum  sorry you feel like this sending a hug. Get those bird feeders filled up for tomorrow for a distraction think it's meant to be cold so may be some rarities xx

    Thanks for that! Hugs appreciated!

I'll put out some extra fat balls tomorrow and see what happens. I've tried to occupy myself with knitting a Cinderella mouse today  - it's gone okay in between me pacing up and down like a zombie because I can't do anything with myself due to the pain!!

It might be a night on the settee tonight I think - sitting up and watching overnight crap TV will be better than trying to get to sleep!

  • Oww that looks horrid!! Just a thought though - try a hot pack instead of a cold one. That was the only thing that worked for me with the aches.

    Another hug?

    xx

  • Hello everyone

     - glad you've got your drain sorted. I had one in for 13 weeks - I've never come across anyone who had it that long. The district nurse used to come twice a week and check it and in between I had to change the bag and record how much. In the end, I cheated and emptied the bag before she came so that it was under the target amount. Didn't do me any good in the end though as I have a seroma that won't go away (nearly 3 years later).

I confess I did the same a couple of times when I was on chemo. After the second time, I started laying a bath towel on the bed but it never happened again. Don't worry too much, I'm sure there's a rational explanation.

Best of luck for your chemo - I'm sure it'll be fine.

sorry to hear you're going through a bad patch. Obviously you need a special hug. xxxx

I think you're a bloody marvel, even if you're not quite as strong as you were once upon a time. I can't pull my hubby's bow more than about 2 inches lol. He uses a bow without all the sights etc but it's amazingly heavy. He also uses a longbow. I don't know the differences between them all, just that he's got way more upper body strength than I ever had. That, of course, makes him really useful for carrying shopping and bags of garden stuff.

Haven't forgotten I promised to photograph my tapestry. I don't have a phone with a camera so had to dig out the camera and am charging it right now. Later ...

    Have a good week everyone.

    Lynn xx

  • I'm only drawing 22lb at the moment. My normal setup is 30lb. I'm hoping that without the weight of the stabilisers I can get back up to that fairly soon. Otherwise I'll struggle to hit 70m/80yds...................

I tried a longbow a couple of years ago. Struggled to draw a 30lb one - it's completely different.

Most of the fellas I shoot with are drawing 45lb plus - no chance!!

And you have a good week too

    xx

None of us wanted to be in this group, but we are glad we're not alone.

Diagnosis 2/8/17 IDC Her2+, 22mm, with spread to several lymph nodes. TCHP chemo started 23/8/17, Mx with immediate, temp recon 24/1/18, rads 20/3 to 10/4/18, Herceptin by IV until Nov 18. RR Mx Jan 23. Still waiting for reconstruction, but opting for simple implants, as opposed to Diep, due to long waiting lists for diep.
