Hello all - been reading and keeping up with news. Just wanted to pop on to wish everyone a Merry Christmas - new and old alike.
A quiet Christmas this year. My mum is coming to me for a few days. Some of you may recall, my dad died a fortnight before Christmas last year so we have not long had his first anniversary. We are coping.
I'm still struggling with my lymphodema but have a follow up in Jan. Sleep still dire, permanently tired and joints hurt but dosed on painkillers and I can get through most days despite working a busy 40 hr week. Lovely to hear the news from some of you. I won't name names as I inevitably will forget someone but sending Christmas wishes to you all xx
Well it got a bit snowy indoors at the end of the panto …grown up grandchildren all had a great time ……OH YES THEY DID !!!!
That looks fun, Northerner !
Night night Fruit Loops from daughter’s house, was greeted like a long lost soul by Henry of course, even though I was looking after him only a couple of weeks ago! Sleep well and stay safe, plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish
hugs xxx

Hello! And Merry Christmas! Hope you all have an amazing time. I have also had the dreaded lurgy and have ended up on antibiotics again for a chest infection, annoying, I seem to get everything with bells on it. LondonLass fantastic news, now everything crossed for your next appointment, hope lucky pants doesn’t overdo it at Christmas so he can be a good support! Dicha sorry you’ve not been well, glad you’re on the mend Lacomtekp get well soon! Ninsim I’m glad you’ve got more information now, it’s really hard to make a decision about treatment and in the absence of them guiding you then follow your gut as to what is right for you. If they felt one option was vastly better than another I think they would say. Once you’ve decided and get a plan you might feel a bit better, the unknown is always harder.
Have a great Christmas everyone, all the best for the coming year for us all xx
Hello Fruit Loops,
Well, you know what I have been on the go and for the first time in a very long time I'm enjoying 'getting things done around the house' - now as good as this is ..... I can't help wonder if I am enjoying this because I have not been doing the real work 'paperworks' that I should be doing (I've been given an extension for the end of January yahhhy) - so I think I have abused the extension and got on with house 'cleaning' as best as can be .... with an arm that hates being held in the air and knees that don't like to bend for me to get on the floor or up again!!!! (this has to change).
Here is a first - it hasn't lasted long .... but I am going to get back into it and try and try..... for the first time in goodness knows how many years and it is years and a lot of them .... I'd be saying 15-20years I was actually able to get up at 8:00am / 8:30 am / 7:30 am for three days on the trot! (I used to feel ill if I got up early - don't know why, so always a strain with early appointments etc) and I got on with 'doing things' and on and on - I am really pleased with myself haha - I knew I forgot something, so I as feeling really please and then I took my blood sugars and they were 21.9 !!! - I am going to go to the Doctors in the new year
So haven't finished Christmas yet - I have mom's presents to wrap - but mom wouldn't care if they are wrapped or not, and, cards to write for nieces and nephews that will have a small amount of money in.... they are all at work and I think they should really be buying for me now
Well Fruit Loops there was something else but its gone out my mind for now.....
In the meantime I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, please try not to worry - worry just eats away at you - doesn't change anything and tires you out.
Love you all xxxx
Here's a photo of our Christmas tree - lighting isn't too good though.
I do laugh after I post these as my mind never remembers if I have finished sentences or what I'm actually talking about. Night Fruit Loops xxxx
See, its me, I'm back.....
I meant to say about Snowys Mom seeing Lucky Pant's girlfriend - she is one beautiful guinea pig - stunning.
Tired Minion the passing of your father seems to of come around so quick. I do hope you and your dear mum are apply to enjoy Christmas sharing memories of happier times together.
raedd and Dicha - I am left handed and had radiotherapy on left breast. I was told to avoid blood pressure, needles etc in my left arm to avoid risk of lymphedema (although was told straight away, I think it was at second check up ..... unknowingly, I had had blood taken from left arm - thankfully all was okay).
Grogg - I'm sorry your still feeling poorly lets hope it does one between now and tomorrow night x
Violetsniff - I hope your early Christmas went well, it must be so hard under the circumstances ..... you just have to do your best. .... and you can reward yourself with your sining with the choir. Thinking about you and sending love and hugs xx
@Anna12345 - it's not letting me tag you ..... wishing you a Merry Christmas - hoping your day is filled with fun, love and laughter xxx
definitely going now xxxx even if I haven't tagged you - know you are in my thoughts xxxx
Sorry to all of you also struggling with lurgy.
Am I reading right if yiu had left side radiotherapy you should use that arm for B etc. no one ever told me this - I'm 8 years down the line. I didn't have any nodes removed or zapped so I assume that's why ?
WhatHappened you need to recheck blood sugars 2 hours after eating to see if returning to lower number. Your GP shoukd do a hb1ac check. 21 is very high and will make you tired & lethargic xx
Hope you feel better soon to Grogg rubbish feeling ill at Christmas!first BC I gad lumpectomy and radiotherapy and I wasn’t told to avoid using my arm for injections, etc. I’m also assuming it because my actual lymph nodes weren’t affected or directly zapped, obviously that’s all changed after the second time. WhatHappened well done for being so industrious! Bet you feel good about it now, I love the feeling you get after you’ve done loads about the house
Merry Christmas one and all, I’ll raise a glass to Santababy and the others we’ve loved and lost ️x
Good morning.....with regard the arm discussion. I only had a sentinel node removed but was told no blood tests, drips, injections etc in that arm . Even now, eight years on, my nurse doesn't want to use it for blood tests and the pharmacy for injections. Does it matter? I have no idea. It's just what they do. A friend in the UK who has had BC in both breasts at different times has everything done in her thigh now. Different areas with different policies I expect.
At last Mum and I did the tree. She did the bottom half and I did the top....
We went more modern in her room with lots of fairy lights and mini trees.
