  • you must be thrilled. It looks lovely.  What is the surface called? It's obviously not tarmac!

  • It’s ‘casually’ called resin. It’s actually a bonded resin drive. Bottom layer hardcore, then loose permeable tarmac Then this which is quite a thick layer, and to prevent slipping in wet/icy conditions they throw down tiny glass chippings which set loosely into the resin. Guaranteed for about 20 years, the water drains straight through and weeds dont get root! (We hope!) and supposedly it will take a 7 ton vehicle. Our van is 3 1/2 so that’s good. We are really pleased and can’t wait to be able to park on it (Saturday they said but will maybe wait a day or so to allow it to harden even more)

    Beautiful drive,

Great that it's extra strong to handle the heavy vehicles, too. I always thought any extra strength would detract from the appearance, but I was wrong, obviously.

  • Can I ask if expensive ?  We were quoted  £23,000 for a resin drive & pathway .  We have parking about your size in front of house then drive to side which is about 4 car lengths and path in front of house !  We were so shocked we didn't bother looking for another quote!  We've been quoted £4K for new tarmac drive !

  • We paid around £8k but another quote came in at over £11, so I think shopping around is the answer, one house along our close paid £5k but the company who did theirs didn’t dig up the existing concrete and so it’s cracked. So you really need to be sure.
we just told the kids we spent their inheritance! Hahaha!

  • that drive looks amazing!!! I get to see quite a few of these on my travels, and yours looks darned good.

Well. work is full steam ahead. Today was rough. I saw a customer last saw during chemo. Her hubby died in April (not covid), and she has reached the end of treatment options for ovarian. What I HATE about covid - I couldn't offer my usual hugs Sob. She is amazing - she said - her family is all safe and well, her husband won't be left without her, and she's old. So it is ok she said. I wanted to sob my heart out.

Still eating homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes and beans. More to come of everything except potatoes.

Hubby wanted gnomes. I threatened to build a jail for them. We settled on dragons, who have taken up residence by the pond.

I've used an at risk word too it seems. Jail, perhaps?

    xx

  • Hi, I think the dragons are gorgeous but also your finished garden. All that work you were doing in the early lockdown has certainly paid dividends. Enjoy your produce......
