Oncology appointment this morning after CT and Xrays taken last week due to increased breathlessness.

The fluid that I had taken off my lungs three weeks ago is back and worse than it was, so he's taken me off the Eribulin as it's obviously no longer working to hold back the cancer. He has taken the MMM chemo he mentioned before off the table as one of the drugs tends to head straight for effusions and causes toxicity. There is one oral chemo that we can try, but he doesn't think it will work as he's 'used all the best drugs' already. He's willing for me to have a try, but is equally happy for me not to have it given the limited likelihood of benefit and the possible side effects. I'm now going to have the Hickman line removed and a permanant chest drain put in asap.

So, despite the fact that I'm reasonably well apart from the breathing issues and that I look well (according to everyone!) , I'm on the slightly slippery slope of no further treatment pretty soon, and waiting for the inevitable - not that I'm in any hurry to go anywhere!  I've got ballet tickets up until next May, and I'm buggered if I'm going to waste them!

Still have a HUGE bruise nd blood clot on my leg where I fell off the chair last week. Oncologist feels that the anticoagulant injections are contributing to the bleeding into the clot, but he can't due to the risk of pulmonary embolism. So, will have to wait foe another couple of weeks to see if the clot disperses on its own or will need excavation to get it out. I've been banned from doing anything above ground level now!!! Joy

Hope everyone is as well as possible and that those with appointments have as stress-free a time as possible.

  • Heck! Thinking of you Weeblemum/Cathy and hoping something can be found to help you in all ways

    Hi to and

... still shooting well. When I tried archery I liked the indoor shooting as I didn’t have to search too hard to find arrows !!!  I stopped because I had a shoulder problem but on reflection I think it was more to do with starting the petrol mower...seemed to do a lot of gardening/mowing at that time.

Hope is having a good break away.

    xx

Hi Cathy Oh bum as they say.

The Chinese Acupuncturist at The Macmillan Horizon Centre said that positive energy helps and you certainly have that.

I have got my CT scan result at the end of this month and keep thinking is it this time?( that the Capecitabine stops working).

I am back to eating greens every day Belvedere Broccoli one pack a day ( with mayonnaise, lemon Lemon juice, black pepper and Tumeric as a sauce). I ate loads of greens in my 30s and 40s.

I still don’t take enough exercise, but... it leaves lots of fat on my tum where the blood thinner injections can go in each day.

Tomorrow afternoon,  I have an appointment at the local eye hospital, ( I slept through the last appointment as on my second week of chemo tablets).  Hospital is going to check the Asteroid Hylosis in my left eye and the laser treatment ( cell build up) in my right eye which took place about 6 months ago.

I wish everyone the best with their medical appointments and results.

I've got my pre appointment tomorrow! Fasting now for bloods. Luckily, I've got a bit of  stomach upset (not something I ever imagined I'd say...) so at least I'm not getting hungry!

Hope everyone is doing ok this evening x

  • Hi

hope you stuck to your decision and said chipped bowl now gone Blush Cold seems to be nearly gone now .

No phone call so presuming bloods ok and third EC tomorrow ..yay halfway for EC . Then Herceptin .In some ways does feel like fast forward all the time .

Right from beginning 8 days from diagnosis til masectomy on 4/7 .I wasn't expecting Bisphosonphates to start yet and it does  depend on dental check . The plan would be one infusion every 6 month for 3to 6 year as a preventive for recurrence of HER 2-positive

Like most people on here I Must admit to being very impressed with the hospital team they all seem to be very positive .also most importantly all teams communicate with each other and me .

    Keep well
