  • Thank you . DH has been to get some porridge pots. I already take my own cranberry drink and Cham tea. Great idea. Had a good lie down, so should be OK now. Xxx.

    Hi Cathy .

My maternal  grandmother had glaucoma and cataracts, my mum had cataracts, had one implant and was taking medication to prevent glaucoma.

My mum’s half sisters all had cataracts ( mum was adopted).

In my forties,  I started developing a cataract which was replaced by an implant, then the other eye developed one too, ditto.

Both needed laser treatment afterwards to remove a build up of cells, which is fairly common.

I had an appointment with Optometrist last week (. 6 months check up in case of Mets).

She referred me to eye hospital as I have another build up of cells in left eye and she couldn’t see the back of eye. Left eye is one with Asteroid Hylosis and bump on vein.

The right eye I have 20/20 vision luckily.

So, I return to see her 2 weeks  following eye laser appointment.

Then I may be referred for eye op to replace gel with artificial gel. Now I’m on anti coagulant daily injections not sure what will happen? I was to have had eye op Feb this year but was diagnosed with SBC in Jan Rolling eyes

Postive News things moving on the medical retirement front. My Unison rep rang me yesterday to say that she had put a strong complaint through to the head of Occupational Heath at the length of time it’s taking ( started application in July) and also the number of GPs who had to sign my health report. She thought it was at second GP stage when it’s still on first! OH GP Secretary emailed me to say that my GP has been contacted now. Hopefully it will be finished before end of Jan.

    Judith xx

i may have the record for the shortest time between being given a date for surgery then having it cancelled.some of you may remember that I am waiting to have the final part of my reconstruction op the first part of which was done in November last year .had a date for December 3 but was cancelled a couple of weeks ago .anyway I’m waffling as usual,Monday morning 9am phone call ,we have a cancellation for Wednesday do you want it.?yes please!went upstairs to tell hubby.he went in shower phone rang again sorry Anne  just spoken to consultant and he can’t do you Wednesday as hasn’t got the team he needs for your op!went to tell hubby.he was mad I was tearful.move on to lunchtime and we’re out shopping .phone rings.how about dec 31?she promised it will happen this time but I’m not going to believe it until I’m gowned up and on my way to theatre.

oh 2 of my silly friends say ‘how can you want to spend new year in hospital?we wouldn’t give up a night out.!!! really?mmm let’s see.my temporary tissue expander has been causing me pain and discomfort for over a year now.shall I carry on as I am so I can spend New Year’s Eve at home with a glass of wine?(we don’t go out) or take a surgery slot when offered it?
