I have been taking Letrozole since I finished chemo in September 2016, my SE were not too bad but they are getting worse. I have pains in my joints, shoulders, arms, legs and breasts, and a clicking thumb. I went to my GP to ask if I could change Brands,  but she said it will make no difference and has ordered a blood test, she is then going to contact my oncologist. I rang my oncologist and spoke to a macmillan nurse who advised me to stop taking Letrozole  for 2 weeks to see if it's that causing the problems. I am very nervous about stopping and would welcome your advice and if anyone has been asked to do the same.

Many thanks

Thanks for your story, I have to contact the BCN on 14th Feb, I know my Dr will not prescribe Femara as it's too expensive, that's how I got Accord originally and then subsequently Dr Reddy, but it certainly won't  hurt to ask.

Hi I have been taking letrazole since 2009, 8.5 years, following a mastectomy. However although l will officially stop March 2018 l have been suffering for several months & so decided 12 days ago to take myself off them,(never seen the consultant in years as l was discharged/transferred after getting non Hodgkin’s lymphoma).

Following treatment for that l only have 3 monthly reviews now as all seems well there.

However the “suffering” l mentioned has been hair thinning & loss by the combful just recently & while l could put up with that it’s the extreme joint pain that has developed in my left hip in recent months that’s become the main issue.

Whenever l pull myself off the sofa/ get out of the car l have to stand for seconds & steady myself before l can move as the pain is gripping BUT within seconds again l walk normally, climb stairs etc

This has only happened in recent months so l am blaming the “prolonged” use of letrazole.

BTW my pharmacist alerted me about my use for more than 5 yrs & following written contact with my consultant he recommended continued use until March 2018.

Now, 12 days later l feel a little more comfortable but it’s probably too early to say whether l have done the right thing.

Sleep, or the lack of it, has been a big issue too but the last few nights have improved so watch this space.

Feeling jittery about reaching this point as it’s felt like a safety net cum comfort blanket....have l done the right thing

    Hi

SE's is the abbreviation for Side Effects.

Warm welcome to the Mac Community - Steep learning curve isn't it :-/
