Stage 4 Sigmoid Cancer

Hello everyone, I am 48 and was diagnosed in October with stage 4 bowel cancer with metastases to my liver and peritoneum. I started Capox chemotherapy in December and next stage is a scan in March to see how the disease has responded. I am hoping I will be a candidate for HIPEC and CRS if the liver metastases have resolved or are suitable for resection. If anyone has been in a similar situation and has any advice it would be most welcome. Particularly the peritoneal deposits worry me, although there are only two at the moment, I know they are particularly tricky to treat and keep at bay. My cancer is KRAS mutant and microsatellite stable so I believe my immunotherapy options are limited because of this. It's frightening but I have faith in the treatments and am optimistic. Best wishes and hopes for good health to everyone on here. Heartpulse

  • Hi FenellaWitch,

Sending love and support to you. You are showing such resilience and you are moving forward. Sometimes we discover a strength that we didn't know we had.

I am meeting with a consultant on Monday to go over the results of my tests. I hope I can be as brave as you. Take care. x

  • Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I'm scared but just have to get on with whatever I need to in order to keep things under control and have time with my family.

Have you just recently been diagnosed? Wishing you strength and love as you go through this xx

  • I will know on Monday. I am expecting a cancer diagnosis as the consultant I am seeing is the lead colorectal surgeon in our local hospital. Hoping that there is a plan.

Although my family are very supportive, it has been a difficult few weeks.  It was picked up at a screening test. Suddenly, I found myself on this pathway.

Hoping someone on the forum can give you information . Stay strong.

  • Oh I hope you get some answers and a good plan of action on Monday.

    Thinking of you xx

  • Sending you virtual hugs. This is a tough diagnosis.

Be aware that there are some new treatments for people with KRAS mutations. I believe it is generally referred to as Beacon because that was the name of the clinical trial.

So there may be additional options for you.

  • Oh that's great, thank you, I'll do some research into that.

    X
