Hello all. I’m new here and been going through bloods tests and scans for colorectal cancer. I’ve had a ct colonography this week as a colonoscopy didn’t work. Due to family history I am very scared. I’ve lost 10kgs in 3 months. My clothes from a month ago are 2 inches too big already. I’ve not had an appetite for months but no other symptoms really. October I went to a&e as had stomach, pelvic, hip and back pain and the drs didn’t listen. December my dr did blood tests and stool sample, which came back with blood in. I have been tired a bit more but I have EDS and Fibromyalgia and also have IBS. I’ve put these symptoms down to this and now I’m worried I’ve left it too late. Thank you for taking the time to read x

  • Hi

Try not to beat yourself up. As you'll see from other posts, mainy of the bowel cancers are very slow growing, so a few months pethaps is less significant that you fear.

It may well not be cancer, but if it is, a strong positive attitude will give you the best chance of smashing it.

While you wait for the results, try distracting yourself with anything that takes your mind off you health. Friends, family, courses, work, holidays - literally anything.

Did they say how long till you get the ct colonography results?

  • I went through a similar scenario 18months ago and the act Colonoscopy didn’t work so had a proper one and to cut a long story short I was diagnosed with bowel cancer and and had operation to remove the problem. Then chemo which I am still on.

i know it is all stressful and a worry of what is going to happen but my advice from experience is be confident with the doctors and nurses and let them help you. It is not easy because all of our bodies react differently but ve strong and positive and get strength from your family and friends and hopefully you will get a good outcome from your treatment.
