Sister - could it be cancer?

Hi I’m very worried about my sister. The health care in Wales seems quite lacking.

We went on holiday together last April and she struggled to eat and felt extremely unwell.

They found she had H pylori and was treated for this. She totally changed her eating habits and eats organic healthy foods now. She’s always ate plenty of fruit and vegetables.

She was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and given tablets for this.

She’s also had a biopsy on her gums as they have all white stuff over them and are quite painful. She was told the results would take 4 months so she’s hoping to hear soon.

She went to A&E last night as she’d had blood in her stools and had severe pain in her side.

They sent her home with tablets for the pain after doing blood tests which can back okay.

Shes lost a lot of weight.

They’ve not booked her in for a scan yet because they want to wait on the stool results.

I’m trying to remain positive but it’s hard.

Does anyone have any similar experiences?

Thanks

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. Your poor sister sounds to have had a lot going on and hopefully some of the tests that she’s had will start to get to the bottom of her issues.

Blood in the stool can be caused by several things such as piles, polyps, ibs, colitis, diverticulitis, crohns. Hopefully the FIT test results will come back quickly and then they can decide whether a colonoscopy might be helpful?

Please try to stay positive and not assume the worst. Her bloods were okay which is good and sometimes you have to try to be patient, wait for results and then see what the next step is?

Ive attached a link to a document where you can record symptoms and bowel movements which might be helpful for your sister
