Hi all, my name is Evie i’m 20 years old.
From 2022 i have had some amounts of blood in my stools and whenever i wipe, also the sudden urge to use the toilet after each meal and not feeling like i was empty, i just ignored these symptoms as i thought it was just stress, however it started to worsen i had pains in my tummy nearly all the time and either constipated for a week or severe diarrhoea. I went to my gp about this and she gave me a rectal exam and said it was just piles/hemmorids and to use some creams
I took her advice and used creams etc but the symptoms only seems to worsen and the pains in my stomach became really bad but i just passed it off as ibs.
just over a week ago i went to the gp for an unrelated issue and she seemed shocked i still had the symptoms and gave me a calprotein test and a Q-fit test.
Yesterday she rang me to say that my Q-fit was highly abnormal and very high levels of blood in my stool and asked me to come in urgently, she gave me a rectal exams and said there is a 3-4cm lump in my rectum.
She has referred me for a colonoscopy as urgent but she said there’s a severe backlog in my trust and could be waiting up to 6 weeks.
Was anyone else’s symptoms like this i just don’t seem to be getting much advice elsewhere, hope this is okay to ask
Thanks for reading
Evie
Hi Evie,
I just wanted to say welcome to the board, I’m sorry you are going through this.
I can’t help with symptoms as I had none, mine was picked up from a routine test because I happened to be at the docs about something else (like you based on what you said).
Hopefully others can help more.
Bowel cancer is often a slow grower, the oncologist thinks mine had been there years, so IF it is that (might not be) then try not to worry yourself just yet. I would suggest not googling as the information can be scary and often very out of date. There’s no point scaring yourself.
wishing you good luck!

many thanks

Some Questions and advice Hi Evie. Ive attached a link to a diary page where you can monitor your symptoms.
Hopefully you’ll get your appointment through soon as the gold standard treatment is to get an appointment within 2 weeks of referral. It may well be a polyp which is bleeding as the stool passes over it but the colonoscopy will give you a much better idea.
As Cerys says try not to self diagnosed through google - come back to us after the colonoscopy and we’ll go from there
Take care
Karen x
