I was diagnosed just 3weeks ago with bowel cancer. I've just had an ileostomy & trying to come to terms with all this stoma bag business.
As I was getting leaks my stoma nurse [who is great by the way] has given me some Dansac 'washers' to try...at least I think thats what they are called? Now I forgot to ask her which way around they go...or does it make no difference?
Hers a link to these 'washers':
Dansac 72540 Gx-tra Seal, 40 mm x30 | EasyMeds Pharmacy (Available free on the NHS)
Any help gratefully received...& thanks in advance!
cheers

Hi Johnny60 I don’t think it really matters. I used to get sore on just 1 side of my stoma so used to tear the rings into smaller pieces and just apply on the bit of skin that needed it?
You might also like to have a look at the stoma page on the board?

They look like the pads I was given for a while as my skin was getting a little sore.
They're sticky on both sides and stretchy. Very stretchy.
I'd be more concerned about the stretchiness as it's easy to make them a little too big for your stoma. You want to try and have it just neatly around the outside but close to the edge. I found it to be a bit of an art at first but ok when you get used to it.
Rae.
