Hi all, I was diagnosed on Friday with Stage 3/4 rectal cancer. The medical team have suggested a colostomy formed prior to starting chemo and radiotherapy and then finally surgery to remove the affected tissue and permanent colostomy. I can see it is going to be a long journey ahead -i think its about 1 month wait to see the oncology team. I have a 6 year old daughter. I wondered if anyone had a similar treatment plan/advice and also if anyone has navigated this journey with a little one any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Vic40
i was diagnosed with stage 3 but had surgery first, including an ileostomy, then chemo. This was last February.
It may seem a long journey, but once you start the appointments it goes very quick
what treatment will you be having? There’s lots of advice on here and support. It helped me so much, so please just ask any questions, you will get an answer.
i have my 18 month review next Friday
take care lovely
Hello Vic40,
Like you, it was a subject I knew nothing about. If you click on my name you will see a summary of events that returned me to a near-normal life. However, my daughters were grown up and married (but they still worried more than I did) yet my grandchildren - 3 and 6 - just took it in their stride.
