Hi, Not sure if this is the right place to post.
About 6-7 weeks ago I had clots in my stool. Saw my GP and she ordered a load of tests, things came back ok. qFIT was <10
I went on to have further bleeding, the clots becoming darker and the smell was quite something.
At a review with my GP, she suggested we repeat the tests at 6 weeks post original tests.
This time my qFIT test came back >400. A massive shock as the sample I gave didn't have any visible blood at that time.
My ferritin (still in normal range) has dropped more than half in that 6 weeks, despite taking iron tablets.
I'm only 30, but I'm pretty scared. I'm a professional overthinker and excellent at catastrophising.
I don't know how worried I should be.
You have cause for concern. It is quite easy to bleed internally, for whatever reason, and be losing blood without any visible sign.
Your doctor should be referring you for a colonoscopy, which should find out what is wrong and if something is wrong get you treatment. Once you start that process then my experience is that the NHS is very good at getting on with what needs to be done.
Hi Hazza ,
there are lots of things it could be. You’ll be referred for scans and a colonoscopy (which is not as bad as you think it will be) and they’ll advise from there. I found the care excellent.
take one step at a time….. try not to overthink it or Google it as that might worry you unnecessarily.
best wishes

Thanks CerysM I think the difficulty is that I have background in healthcare. I probably know too much.
I had a routine gastro referral in March for other reasons. The GP I spoke to on Friday said she would expedite the referral but not sure she if she meant 2ww.
So it all is going round and round my head.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
I have a little background in healthcare too and it has been both a blessing and a curse.
There are so many possible explanations for your symptoms... keep that in mind.
Good luck! Hopefully they get you into a GI specialist soon.
