Hi all,

I am new to this group. I am aged 38 female and yesterday received a positive fit test with highest levels possible. Have been referred for colonoscopy. I have always had piles like symptoms ever since birth of my little boy but recently received low iron diagnosis.
I am really struggling with my nerves, I cannot eat or sleep and constantly am thinking the worst possible case. The GP has prescribed some sleeping tablets which are not really helping but I am not eating which is making me lose weight and worry even more. How do people cope. I have such a wonderful family but just worry this will ruin my little boys life.
Any words of support are appreciated at this awful time.

thank you for reading

  • Good morning,

    how are you getting on?

I did have my colonoscopy - all clear. Also had endoscopy- the dr didn’t see anything untoward however has taken biopsies.

unfortunately it seems the results will take 8 weeks (unbelievable) so I have since seen a gastroenterologist in London who is going to do a PET scan and another endo/colon next week given some other symptoms I have now been experiencing. PET scan results back next day, others within 5 days.

i am teary a lot. I don’t feel well at all so it’s all getting a bit much now.

    how are you getting on?

  • Thanks for the reply Natalie, that is good news that your colonoscopy was clear. 8 weeks is a long time to wait.
I have my colonoscopy tomorrow, I am so nervous and have lost so much sleep and weight as just cannot function. My little boy is at the front of my mind.

hoping you get positive results from these other tests.

  • Sending you my best wishes.

i had sedation for the colonoscopy and was absolutely fine. You should receive a report on the day to take away with you so you should know straight away if any follow up is needed.

yhere are so many reasons other than cancer so try not to worry. Not long to go now x
