Hi
can anyone tell me have they been diagnosed as having colon rectal cancer that is now showing low volume lung metastases what treatment have you been offered . Is anyone on watch and wait before starting any treatment Thank you
Hi Maggy Moose
Cecile or Marianne26 might be able to assist .
My mum apparently had some nodules showing back in 2014 but she did not know about them until 2016 . One was deemed cancerous after it was big enough for Pet scan uptake . I have sat in a few meeting with oncologist and thoracic surgeons and it does seem they can’t be certain until they see growth that doubles in volume , biopsy or big enough for uptake on a PET scan so it’s pretty regular to do watch and wait . They can often apparently be slow growing and my mum’s very first oncologist said they can sometimes grow to a certain size and sit like that for a few years then suddenly grow . However the whole time they are being monitored and ready to intervene if required .
My mum has just recently had nine months of Cetuximab on its own and that knocked it back down once again . She is really too frail for Much treatment now as quick and timely intervention has brought her into her 80s . Diagnosed as stage 4 at 67 . Her lung tumours have behaved completely differently to her liver mets .
Take care ,

Hi Maggy court has tagged me in here; however, I doubt I can offer you much advice at this stage, re. my own personal treatment, as I was not put on a 'watch & wait' system....but was operated on within a month of being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer; & had a Left Hemicolectomy in May '19.At that time, I had no mets. & no follow up Chemo. However, in March '20, after a follow up CT Scan, 2 Lung Nodules Mets.showed up in my right lobe of Lung - I then had to have 5 mths. of Chemo, (to shrink them,) followed by a Lung Ablation in October of that year.
You haven't given a lot of information here; however, I would imagine that the team would be looking at the primary source first, & then the mets. in your lung.....but I'm just hazarding a guess here.
Perhaps if you give more information here, others can offer more help & advice to you.
In the meantime, many best wishes.for your treatment programme.
