Hello everybody!
This previous weekend was one full of hospital visits. An MRI (which I hated!) and a Colonoscopy (which was more delightful than the MRI!)
Anyway, we knew something was there but to what extent we weren't sure. The great news is it is localized. The biopsies have yet to come back but all signs point to a tumor in my rectum. I did find out before Christmas, which was rubbish but I kept it quiet from family so we could enjoy the festive period.
Today, I had my first 'yep this is real' call, to book my appointment to discuss treatment. And although I've had some teary moments today, I am feeling pretty positive about it all. In fact I've cried while writing this, silly huh?
I know what I have, I have a rough idea of the treatment plan and I will fight it every darn step of the way for the sake of my daughter!
Not how I expected 2024 to start but I'd love to be able to come here in the times I can't talk to family and friends, as well share our journey's
Becky
Hi BexOak and a warm welcome to the board. Yes it’s an emotional roller coaster so have a bit of a cry then take a deep breath - the next few months will be tough but doable. Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable and no spread is good news.
You are very welcome to come here whenever you want and if you click on peoples names, then their profile page may show their treatment to date. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2016 and I’m still ‘no evidence of disease’ as are the 2 ladies that I went through my treatment online with.
I’ve attached a link to a booklet that I was given at my first appointment if you want a heads up?

We’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery and happy to help and support you through yours.
Take care

Hello and welcome,
I'm quite new here too. I was diagnosed with a caecum tumour in November 23 and had emergency surgery due to appendicitis. I’m yet to have a colonoscopy so I’ll look forward to that!
somedays are easier than others, I’m very positive but then reality hits me and I end up in tears. My children definitely keep me going! I have an oncologist phone consultation today, PICC line fitting tomorrow and then I’m due to start chemotherapy on Friday. It’s all become very real.
As Karen says, if you click on names you can read their journeys.
I hope you get a definite treatment plan soon.
Rachael x
