I had a colonoscopy 3 years ago. Diviticulitus was diagnosed a polyp taken which was benign.
the consultant said the diviticulitus was quite bad.

in the last 5 weeks I’ve had antibiotics twice with suspected flare up.
Noticed blood, had stool test it came back as 47 positive with I am told is low but obviously something not right.
I am having another colonoscopy on Friday ..slowly the uncomfortableness I’m experiencing in my stomach is getting worse.

worse usually mornings but it’s now started late evening too.

anyone here associate with what I’m saying ?

feeling overwhelmed.
I don’t think I’m going overseas as planned to visit family. As it is in 10 days time. Disappointed

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the board. Yes it’s a worrying time but it may well be another polyp or your diverticulitis causing the problems. Only 1 in 10 colonoscopies resilts in a bowel cancer diagnosis and hopefully the person doing the colonoscopy will give you an idea of whether they find anything suspicious. The good thing is that you’re getting thoroughly checked out.

The uncomfortableness may well be anxiety - you wake up remembering that you have a colonoscopy coming up which gives your tummy a few butterflies and these increase after your evening meal which tends to be your biggest meal of the day?

You may still feel up to visiting your family - it would be a good distraction while waiting for any results - and could check with your insurance how you would stand beforehand?

Please let us know how you get on?

    Take care

Thanks so much Karen yes I agree with you. I guess like most people it be nice to get the test over with and know what’s what. It’s the unknown I guess at the start. I’m so far taking it in my stride and being open about what it could be. I think that helps my daughters prepare just in case, when it’s not all hidden l but realise we are all individual in coping strategies at these times. X
