I was diagnosed on 25 October, had my conversation with the consultant yesterday, been told it should be mid- December for operation, waiting on the exact date. Full large bowel removal as risk reduction surgery due to family history, all due to the fact my routine colonoscopy checks were delayed by two years by the hospital because of guideline changes and they missed the history and the fact the last colonoscopy with polyp removal wasn’t completely clear. Amazing what a small chain of events can cause and the impact it can cause.

Welcome to the bowel community. I’m just sitting waiting for my 3 weekly discussion with the oncology nurse to discuss results of bloods taken yesterday morning.
I’m out the other end of operation and at session 7 hopefully on Thursday ( out of 8) Had 67% of bowel (along with the tennis ball growth) and nodes out at the end of May 2023 but thankfully did n
need any of my liver or other nearby organs although this had been a possibility pre-op and no stoma. Managed to get agreement for chemo in tablets at home to hopefully kill the wee microcells th were in the feeding veins for the tennis ball.
It is worrying understandably while you wait for the next.stage and I have to admit that when I look back I was quite callous with myself with saying it is what it is but we’ll get there.
Feel free to ask any questions on the community and especially discuss any concerns with the MacMillan and Oncology nurses as I have found them brilliant throughout this whole episode.
