Hello everyone
Recently diagnosed and just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm 55 years old and living in the East Midlands.
My primary tumour in the sigmoid colon was found during a colonoscopy (2nd May). Biopsies taken and referred for CT colonoscopy. At this time lesions were found on my liver and prostate. I was then diagnosed as advanced colon cancer with liver metastases - well differentiated adenocarcinoma (prostate lesions believed to be unrelated but needing separate investigation).
I have now had MRIs on my liver and prostate and am awaiting a treatment plan.
I'm sure it's a common picture but this is such an anxious time. Lots of very scary thoughts and concerns for the future. I have a wife and 2 grown children. I want to be positive and optimistic but its hard sometimes.
I'm very grateful for the posts people are putting on these forums. It's good to read other people's experiences.
Hi and sorry about your news.
It’s a difficult time after diagnosis and waiting for a plan. I’m not medical but well differentiated does sound positive as when I was diagnosed 10 years ago mines was poorly differentiated and I’m still here. Mines has returned but I’ve had 10 good years. Think positive and good luck on your journey xx

Hi Cath
Thank you so much for your reply and kind words. I have my fingers crossed and hope that I will have some positive news. It does feel like it has been nothing but bad news for the last month.
I'm sorry to hear your cancer has returned but do hope that everything goes well for you.
Hi SimonR
I found the early stage the very worst. My mind was all over the place and I seemed to have pains that I hadn’t experienced before. The mind can go into overdrive
Once you have your treatment sorted you can focus on that
Please chat here if it helps.
best wishes
Ann
Hi Simon you’re welcome.
As I said it’s well differentiated so fingers crossed it’s positive for you.
I’ve got my positive head on hoping I can shrink everything down. One positive mine is growing slowly. It returned last year and just started treatment on Friday.
Live life to the full that’s my motto xx

Hi Simon
sorry to here about your nees. I too am in the East Midlands and have been going through treatment since October last year with Chemo at Notts City and Operations at QMC.
I have had Colon Cancer (Advanced), which was removed by Surgery October 2022.
I also had an extremely large metastase which I have am currently recovering from a rather large liver resection. Half liver and Gaul bladder removed.
inbetween the 2 Ops I had 3 months of chemo.
what I will say is the NHS have been outstanding with me and saved my life, so if you are where I was you are in good hands.
good luck

Hello Simon
Sorry to hear that. My husband's bowel cancer is advanced also. It has been a rollercoaster 2 years of a journey for us. At present he is currently in hospital for a 4th time fighting off a sepsis infection. He has been told his cancer has grown- but only slightly which gives a little bit of hope I like to think that maybe it is slowing down. He is not getting any treatment with regards to that at all at present and only pain management. Yes your head will be all over the place just now but once they get a treatment plan in place for you hopefully things will become clearer. My best wishes to you on your journey. Take Care.
