I have been put on watch and wait , which is a great thing but now I'm mentally worried about it every day . Any change in my bowel movements or if my stomach bloats I get worried which with diverticulitis as well its quite alot of times

How do others cope with this. Lovely but scary problem.

  • Hi  . Unfortunately this is the down side of watch and wait. Each clear test and scan will give you a little more reassurance and anything negative will be picked up quickly in your checks. Worrying tends to make any stomach issues worse but there’s a few ideas on here that may help

  • Hi  Unfair2 husband is on watch and wait I understand where you are coming from he has pain when needing to pass a stool I always saying is that normal are you sure it's ok should we check it out he on other hand just says not to worry it's fine. Not sure when your treatment plan is ours is unless any red flags colonoscopy and scan 6 months time feel as though we have been left x

  • Hi,

I understand where you are coming from. I was diagnosed last year with recurrence stage 4 cancer and had been on a watch and wait plan for almost a year.

Just started treatment last Friday. Was unsure if this was the right decision by my oncologist but now feel it was the right one. I had no symptoms and had another year with quality of life. When symptoms came he started my treatment.

    Hope this helps xx

  • Yes I know how you feel. It does seem like that.  I have to go for a pet scan on Tuesday.  So hoping they don't find anything else. But your husband has it right try not to worry too much need to enjoy life now.
