Hi Hugh pew
Welcome to the forum !
Sorry to read you are dealing with a spread . Not sure if you have all the details yet but you might like to ask about the best way to contain the spread .
My mum had a slow growing lung nodule back in 2016 which they removed surgically and she was only in two days . It was the most straightforward of all she has gone through as she was able to have it with keyhole surgery. That’s one angle you might like to ask about . You also might like to ask about Radio frequency ablation . Marianne26 has successfully used this for two lung mets and could give you more information if you want it .
You may also like to ask about chemotherapy if they felt that was appropriate. My mum is now in her 80 s and dealing with a spread using a targeted treatment which has been manageable .
As you can see there are various options that might or might not be appropriate but worth asking . I personally asked about the size and location of the tumour and when it was first noticed on the scan as it gave us a feel for how quick or slow growing it was . My mum’s actually took two years to get from 2mm to 8 mm .
I wish you all the best and hope you have some good information from your team to go forward with .
Take care ,

Hi Hugh (& thanks for @court for tagging me in here.)
I expect that they will be dealing with your Bowel Cancer foremost. The size & position of your Lung Met will no doubt be take into consideration also. I would ask - What is the size & position of that Lung Met? Will I be expecting an Op to remove the bowel cancer first? or perhaps Chemo first (with the hope of shrinkage?) The PET scan would have determined the size & position of the Lung Met.
The team will know exactly what to do - so all the best for tomorrow.
Marianne
Thanks Marianne that is very helpful and I will find out more tomorrow re the lung but think it is on upper right lobe not sure of size until tomorrow thanks so much Hugh
All the best for today Hugh pew and don’t be put off if they want to do chemotherapy first . This is very common and for good reason . It not only deals with the visible disease but and stray cells . My mum had chemo first and it was a good plan . Her bowel tumour also shrank and gave the surgeons good margins to work with . Her initial spread was to her liver .
They will tailor your treatment plan to your needs and we are here to support you as you work through this .
