New to all this. Initial blood tests early March all came back fine. FIT test came back 200. Sent for colonoscopy end March and 35mm malignant looking tumour found at the rectosigmoid junction. Knew something was wrong when they fetched my husband and drew the curtain around us. Sent straight away for CT scan to check for spreading. Week after I had an ultrasound then following week I had 2 MRI scans on rectal area and liver. Now waiting for hospital follow up appointment on 27th April. The waiting has been awful, I’ve found this group helpful as can see everyone feels the same during this awful waiting period. It’s just the not knowing. I’m 50 in a few weeks time, lost my mum 25years ago to bowel cancer age 56. Most days just hard to accept it all but trying hard to be positive x
Welcome Em73 so glad you reached out .
So sorry to read about your mum too . That’s a lot to process . Bowel cancer caught early is very treatable . So I do hope you get your plan soon to give you some structure for going forward .
The waiting is tough on everyone and you are so right about that aspect . It comes up here a lot .
You have a very special birthday ahead and I know you will have to factor in a treatment plan but I do hope you have some celebrating on the go too .
A toe by toe journey .
Take special care ,

Thanks for the kind reply court I think I made it worse looking on here today at all the different surgeries and not knowing which will apply to me.
birthday plans have been cancelled until I know what the plan is. I suffer with anxiety and there’s no way I’d enjoy myself at the minute.
xx
Oh that’s easy to do in the early days . Do you know the location of your tumour ?
My mum was right side ascending and it was very straightforward. She has never had any long term issues .
Your surgeon will go through it step by step with you . You could frighten yourself with too much info .
You will have an even bigger celebration when you feel up to it .
For now it’s important to do what you can cope with .
Getting a good plan in place is your priority.
I totally understand the whole anxiety aspect . If you ever feel the need Macmillan has teamed up with Bupa for six free counselling sessions . Something to remember even if it’s for later on .
The helpline staff have the information. They are also available even if you just want someone to speak to .
Take care ,
